"adlabs6"
SimHQ Contributing Editor
adlabs6 has enjoyed PC simulations for the past 16 years. His earliest gaming was on consoles such as "Pong" and the "Odyssey 2" in the early 1980's. In 1986 adlabs acquired his first personal computer, the Tandy TRS-80, and immediately began learning to program in BASIC. Following a full time return to console gaming during the 8-bit and 16-bit era, in 1994 he bought a Compaq 486 desktop. It was here that he began his flight simulation hobby with Microsoft's Flight Simulator 5.
Through later simulations such as the IL-2 Series and FS2004, he discovered SimHQ while looking for advice and tips. Through SimHQ, adlabs was introduced to other simulation genres with titles such as rFactor, GTR2, Dangerous Waters, and the Armed Assault Series.
adlabs has been contributing to the SimHQ ArmA2 coop multiplayer group by creating missions and administrating the server for several years. He has also contributed articles to SimHQ such as the recent popular article on Vintage Simming. Besides his feature article contributions, he assists in maintaining the Armed Assault Forum. adlabs was instrumental in getting the SimHQ Teamspeak 3 server running and operational.
The nickname "adlabs6" was an offshoot from a desktop publishing/graphics venture in the mid 1990s. When not simming, he enjoys listening to classic LPs and CDs on his Hi-Fi set, learning and playing guitar, and reading a variety of histories and politics.
He is currently playing:
- ArmA2 / Operation Arrowhead
- FS2004
- Fleet Defender
- Harpoon
- rFactor
