Jim "Hornit"
Campisi
SimHQ Contributing Editor
"Hornit"
is currently an airline pilot working for Delta Air Lines
out of Atlanta, GA. Jim is a certified aircraft addict, interested
and active in anything connected with aviation. His interest
in aviation and the military goes back as far as he can remember.
Jim graduated from college with a degree in aeronautical science
in 1982 with over 500 hours of civilian pilot time and many
ratings. Jim earned his Navy wings of gold during 1984 and
did a tour as a flight instructor in the T-2C Buckeye in Kingsville,
TX. Jim then went on to fly the A-7E Corsair II and the F-18C
Hornet out of Jacksonville, FL at Naval Air Station Cecil
Field. Jim's background includes over 2,000 hours of tactical
jet flight time. He flew with the reserves for a few years
until family time became more important and he decided to
get out. Currently he holds an airline transport pilot(ATP)
rating and flies the Boeing 757 and 767. In his spare time
he flies single engine Cessnas out of his home town airport
in Peachtree City, GA. Jims flying experience includes just
over 12,000 hours total flight time in a myriad of aircraft
and 253 carrier arrestements during two cruises aboard the
USS Nimitz, and USS America.
Jim's
passion for computer simulations was a natural outgrowth of
his interest and love of aviation. 1994 marked the first PC
for Jim and of course flight sims topped the list of things
to do with it. He is also a hardware nut and enjoys building
and tweaking his own systems. Many of you are already familair
with Hornit's involvement with several flight simulations
and his list of projects is growing every day. He is very
active in many of the forums and can frequently be found there
answering questions and providing a real world perspective
to our combat simulations. Jim's other hobbies include scale
plastic modeling and competition, hiking, skiing, drawing
and painting.
"I am honored to
be a member of this organization and look forward to promoting and enhancing flight
simulations wherever and whenever I can" Jim
is 41 years old and has a wonderful understanding wife and 3 great kids.
