Tom "20mm"
Hayden
Site Emeritus and
Honorary Forums Manager
Hi,
and welcome to SimHQ, the best simulation site on the Internet!
Aw heck, just between you and me, this is the best Internet
site around, of any flavor. I am very honored to be part of
the staff here. Ill help out in the administrative side,
write some articles and mission reports, take out the trash,
sweep up after a long day, and yes, I do windows.
My name is Tom, but most folks around
here know me as 20mm. Im an old guy who loves simming,
all kinds, but especially flight sims. Its a little
known fact, but personal computers were actually invented
to satisfy the human being's innate desire to fly insanely
powerful aircraft from the comfort of a cushy chair in their
spare bedroom. I recall the graphics in my first sim, Chuck
Yeagers Advanced Flight Training, the terrain was comprised
entirely of some very large triangles. Didnt matter,
I was hooked. Since those early days, simulations and the
hardware that run them have changed dramatically, and now,
when I look around the cockpit, the view is spectacular. I'm
still hooked!
When Im not flying simulated
aircraft, I play a little golf (or in my case, flog),
hike, hunt, and do a little physical fitness fun now and then.
I also enjoy spending time with my wife and our two mostly-grownup
children. You know, there are people that spend each and every
vacation going around to different amusement parks and riding
roller coasters. And, although I wouldnt mind that,
Id really love to follow air shows around, dont
think I could ever get enough of that!
Enjoy your time here and in
the virtual seas, race tracks, battlegrounds, and skies!
In mid-2011, Tom became seriously ill. While he continues what we hope is a full and complete recovery, Jay "Weasel_Keeper" Jenkins will keep things going as the SimHQ Forums Manager. We wish "20mm" continued strength and positive thoughts as he continues his convalescence. Take care, dear friend. A thousand thank you's, and we hope to see you posting in the forums more-and-more frequently.
