OCA Strike: A Falcon 4 Air to Ground
Mission Report
Back To Page 3
 |
After a couple minutes we go
feet-dry as the beach flashes below the cockpit rim. |
 |
With the TFR giving me a smooth,
undulating ride we flash by some high-rise buildings,
no doubt startling the occupants, many of whom are looking
DOWN at us! |
 |
I decide to skirt a bit around
waypoint #3 and head directly for waypoint #4 (the IP).
We are doing Mach .82 with 7.7 miles and 55 seconds until
the turn point. I click off the TFR autopilot and let
my altitude climb to between 300 and 400 feet. |
 |
Just short of the IP deselect
QUIET mode and fire up the air-to-ground radar.
The radar is preset to focus on the steer-point (STP)
so I already know the cursors will be directly over the
airfield. |
I cycle to DBS2 (Doppler Beam Sharpening)
to get a nice picture of the airfield and since Im now
emitting I go ahead and flick the ECM pod on.

I order my wingmen to energize their
radars and turn their ECM pods on also. No sense being quiet
now
they know we are coming!
