Over Flanders Fields Phase 2
by Guest Writer Rob "Zundap" Harris
I am usually more of a reader than poster at SimHQ, (still under 100 posts) but
I haven't enjoyed a flight sim so much in years, and felt it's worthy of
much praise. If Over Flanders Fields Phase 1 deserved the 2005 Best Air Combat Freeware Award from SimHQ, then Phase 2 deserves even more. It is truly an amazing effort by the team, not only visually, but it seems to run better (on my computer at least... and I haven't upgraded anything since the release of Phase 1).
Here are some screenshots I've taken from Over Flanders Fields Phase 2. showing a small
portion of the planes, weather, and locations. The last screen
(my favorite) is the Camel of Roy Brown vs The Red Baron. While the screenshots show some of the visual beauty, Phase 2 needs to be flown to appreciate the sheer enjoyment of the actual flights.
You can learn more about this terrific add-on in the SimHQ Over Flanders Fields Forum.
Here are a few shots from a 1 vs 1 that
shows the translucent celluloid-like substance in the upper wing. It also shows me winning the dogfight, until he turned into me and we
both went down in flames! The one thing you can always count on in Over Flanders Fields... nothing is predictable.
