Interview: Jane’s USAF (Backstage)

"No Fear": If future technological developments (like Windows Vista) demanded it, would you modify the game again to keep it alive?

"Gulf Knight": Always!

"Slikk": Unless the weapons.ibx file is cracked or the code is released I think that USAF has gone just about as far as it can go as far as new and innovative directions are concerned.

"COWAR": If it is possible for me to make it executable with Vista, I have to do it.

"Davide": Sure. Considering also that there are no alternatives to this flight simulation I will do all I can to keep this game alive. I only hope that the needed modifications could be simple enough to be finalized by the average user as I consider myself to be, and that the needed modifications do not require specific knowledge that only a professional programmer has.

"Tommy29": Sure, no question here. As long as I can't see a true successor for USAF I will try to keep it alive on my system. And this will need the help of all USAF fans.

"No Fear": What are your plans for the future?

"Gulf Knight": To add new terrain to the game, totally and completely new, and to have more models and a full fleet for the game.

"Slikk": There are well over one thousand missions in Super Pro 9.4 and I will be releasing more mission updates in the future.

"COWAR": In the near future I will finish the first upgrade of MiniPro. The next steps are the creation of the nationality packs and later on I want to give the game a new user environment.

"Davide": I'll make various utilities for each version of USAF. Now I’m working on an integrated application that permits the user to keep everything under control in the easiest possible way. When I finish it, I’d like to develop some missions. So far I am only in the progress of a mission for MiniPro that is far to be finalized. I'd like to have more than one mission on the ‘to do’ list.

"Tommy29": Spending a lot of time with my family and still find a slot to build some more pits. I have a few hundred pictures on my hard drive that are worth [being] converted into USAF cockpits but time is the most limiting factor here as well.
