Select a mission you think you’d like to fly in and…
Here we are, “guodmoski” and I with eleven aircraft to choose from with three already manned. Not my all time most online pilots (22 flying Falcon 4.0) flying on the same server but hey, not bad! To select an aircraft to jump into, simply click onto a player spot and click “FLY”.
You’ll be presented with a mission briefing…
Read the mission briefing and press “FLY”. I was sitting in a cold Ka-50 on the flightline in no time.
This is where (if you’re the hardcore simmer) knowing the start procedures comes in handy. “guodmoski” and I didn’t have a lot of time and it was getting late so “L-WIN” + “KB-HOME” did the trick and brought the beasts alive.
We were taxiing and on the runway in no time. There was, at least for me, very little lag, or stuttering. The aircraft was flyable and almost as responsive as it is in single player. But alas, at one point, I was faced with a long walk home after an unscheduled stop (okay, so Icrashed the bird).
If you’ve safely ejected from the aircraft, you can, by using your joystick and rudder assignment, walk home. Yes, you can take a long walk after successfully ejecting. You don’t have to, but for some off-the-wall fun, it’s hilarious. Only other sim I recall with this capability was Joint Strike Fighter (JSF)* from several years back. Does this mean we’ll be seeing foot races back-to-base with the loser buying the beer? Will we soon see mods of running shoes?
