Conclusion
It’s simple. Gaijin hit a home run with this one. They listened to their customers, and they must have read suggestions in reviews on their other console games. With options, choices, and tons of content, all at a great price, you can’t go wrong with this purchase. And a developer like Gaijin Entertainment deserves our console customer support for going outside of the norm.
We need to support games like this to get more of them, and less of the “all action, no substance” games that have flooded the console market.
The single player campaigns are well done, but impossible on anything but arcade difficulty with unlimited fuel and ammo. So play them in arcade mode, get some unlocks and points for new planes, then switch it to realistic or simulation mode with friends in co-op or multiplay.
The co-op is great with up to a flight of four. Not only do you have the single player missions, but also dynamic mini-campaigns and co-op from within the editor. All this gives this game a lot of continued play.
If you have either a Xbox 360 or a PS3, and enjoy “sim-lite” flight games, then get Birds of Steel. You won’t be sorry.
