I steady my steering and wait for the bomb release line to drop down to the flight path marker (FPM) on my HUD. The HUD is showing 14 seconds to release and soon the TOSS cue (a flashing circle) appears and then the level release cue starts working down the bomb fall line toward the FPM.
Holding the pickle button I hold my breath as the line touches the FPM and I wait for the “thunk” of the 2000 pound bomb releasing. But nothing happens. Damn, I must have missed a step!
Sighing with frustration I start a gentle break turn to the right (east) to egress the area and sort out my problems while some light puffs of AAA appear over the target area.

Heading south-east to clear the area I see a pair of Harriers zooming across the area, no doubt with their bombing switches set correctly.
Lucky for me I have a competent wingman and as he passes over the target in trail formation he hollers “GBU” and releases his weapon. The GBU tracks nicely and impacts the smaller depot building dead center, collapsing the building and setting multiple vehicles parked in the courtyard ablaze.
