My second scramble went much better, probably due to the fact that the J-22s were unescorted, which made for easy shooting. The first shot I took was just at the edge of the no-escape zone on the dynamic launch zone for the first kill.
The second shot I just padlocked the wingman, made sure my wingman was behind me, and let go of an AMRAAM without any guidance (known as a “MADDOG” shot) for the second kill.
Just sitting and not participating much in the campaign I observed a determined and very effective enemy handing the NATO forces in the air and on the ground a fairly straightforward defeat. By grounding the NATO forces at their bases and aggressively patrolling the skies over Albania the Serbian forces cut off the NATO ground forces from any kind of air support. The AWACS picture on the 2nd morning demonstrates the total air supremacy achieved by the enemy forces.
