On the topic of virtual cockpits, FSX blows FS9 away. In fact, the FSX VCs are so good that I am slowly, torturously being led down the path of total VC conversion. While I’ll always believe that there are certain times when a 2D sub-panel is a good idea, the beauty of these FSX VCs is just impossible to ignore. Again, FS9 veterans will be aware that FS9 payware add-ons have already reached a level of VC resolution that matches or exceeds the FSX default ones, but for an out-of-the-box package FSX has really improved massively since FS9. The gauge quality, the crispness of the textures, the lighting (once the interior lighting is on), and the overall look for most of the planes is outstanding. Some of the default VCs have not been improved significantly (in my opinion) such as the King Air. Most have had a major overhaul though and the effect is stunning.
