Graphics
Q: What will be the main changes to graphics?
A: Simply graphics is completely new. We use new 3D engine.
Q: What will be the changes to the skyscape in BoB? How many cloud levels can there be? How many types of cloud?
A: I won’t answer this question until you will see the BoB alpha based trailer from DVD bonus of IL-2 Sturmovik 1946.
Q: Will there be smoke/steam/fire in the cockpit if you are hit?
A: Probably.
Q: Will the damage model for buildings and ships improve? Not only graphically, but in terms of damaged rudder, gun positions, etc.?
A: Yes. In both cases. Cant say about ship rudder damage, I would say that the main term in damage of the ship now is physics.
Q: Will there be a weapon track camera (e.g. to follow a bomb down to the target)?
A: Probably.
Q: Will there be better pilot animation? For example, getting out of cockpit at mission end?
A: Can’t answer right now. We are making skeleton animation in general, but how it will be implemented in final only time will show this.
Q: At present the pilot figure is a bit too big. Will that change?
A: This is Russian big guy of the end of 20th century. We will look for the middle size of WWII time.
Skinners
Q: Will it be possible to alter the default pilot skins?
A: Probably.
Q: Will it be possible to skin ground objects including parked aircraft?
A: Probably.
Q: Will skin size increase to 2048×2048?
A: Yes.
Q: Will skinners be able to affect other factors, such as shaders/luminance for bare metal skins?
A: Probably. But this will be released only in separate special tools after some time of BoB release.
Q: What program will be required for 3rd Party 3D modelers?
A: 3D Max for models and some good painting program for textures.
