OK so far...but how does this look when you are flying your sim? Here are some screenshots from Aces High.

Try to keep the bandit in your upper front quarter.

Keep the bandit forward of your 3/9 line...preferably within +/- 30 degrees of your nose.
Turn hard to put him there. This reduces lateral separation and steepens his attack.

Or use the forward quarter view to see the bandit.

One thing is for sure...you do not want the bandit to get behind your 3/9 line! Avoid this situation!

When choosing your aircraft type, be aware of what kind of canopy cues you will have when looking up.
In a bubble type canopy, the lack of significant canopy framing makes it tougher to remain
aware of your nose position relative to the bandit's flight path.

When you have canopy framing, the situation is easier to see.

That's it...good luck! The secret is to stay under the bandit.

And remember...when in doubt, turn and shoot the bandit in the lips!
