Preview: 2004 Hungarian Grand Prix -
Round 13 of 18

Strategy
The Hungary is a classic case of the
more stops the better. The cars skid around the whole lap
due to the dirty nature of the circuit (this weekend is the
only time in the year that it is used) and so the fresher
the tires the better. The Mickey Mouse nature of the circuit
means that lap times and stops are shorter though the lack
of overtaking opportunities means that that cars who qualify
better than expected may run on only one stop in order to
loose the minimum time possible. By and large two stops is
the way to go around here though a couple of cars may well
go for three instead.

Qualifying Idea
At the moment everyone seems to have
an opinion as to how qualifying should go. Here's mine!
Friday
- 12 lap qualifying session similar to that used pre-2003.
Use of spare car allowed. Engines allowed to be replaced only
if certified as having being irreparable by FIA officials.
Saturday
- 1 lap shootout in order of times from Friday. Fuel allowed
to be topped up prior to race but no other alterations made
to the car. One engine rule to be applied.
Point awarded to fastest lap over
either day.
