Preview: 2004 Japanese Grand Prix - Round 17 of 18

Strategy

One or two stops is again the way to go in Japan. In 1994 the two part nature of the race helped Damon Hill's one stopping Williams eek a crucial advantage over Schuey's two stopping Benetton in what was arguably the most thrilling Japanese Grand Prix to date. Since then the teams have tended to opt for a similar strategy to each other with two stops usually being the way to go due to the high degradation of the tires and the handling characteristics of the circuit.
