As we waited patiently in line for the moronic attendants to work out how to place a queue of cars containing several thousand angry motorists in a field several times larger than was necessary I was reminded of the first lines from the U2 song Angel of Harlem. "It was a cold and wet December day when we touched the ground at JFK". True we were nowhere near New York and we were waiting to get into Goodwood for the Festival of Speed but it was cold and it was wet and we, like the band, were anticipating seeing something very special indeed.
