Feature: GTR2 vs rFactor Shootout #1: The Porsches

Back To Page 2

By the Numbers

Without spending too much time perfecting lap results, I managed to go faster in GTR2 due to the extra grip available. From the MoteC telemetry below you see that GTR2 offered slightly more lateral grip than PCC.

Friction circles for GTR2 and rFactor's PCC05 mod reveal about the same amount of G's when turning left and right. They tell you how much you've leaned on the tires so all other things being equal, the greater the G's the faster you go.

I'm a bit puzzled about why MoteC apparently flips the GTR2 image on its head. Probably a setting somewhere or a difference in the way data is presented to MoteC between GTR2 and rFactor. So kindly forgive the flipped image below because I have no idea how to turn the data around in the MoteC telemetry!

From the figures alone, the friction circles would never reveal that the driving experiences in the two sims are very different. In fact when I compare all sorts of different readouts, the data alone does not reveal which sim I'm driving. I'll also admit to the fact that a lot of the data in MoteC to me is incomprehensible as I am not a student of automotive engineering.
