System Requirements
From the Sim Factory web site, here are the specs required to run ASR.
This is a PC-DVD title and requires a DVD-ROM drive and or DVD burner.
Minimum
- 2.0 GHz processor
- Windows XP, VIsta, XP 64-bit*
- 512MB RAM
- NVIDIA GeForce 6800 or ATI Radeon 9600**
- 128MB video RAM
- DirectX 9.0c
- 2.0 GB of hard drive space for installation
- Internet connection required for online play
* it may run on Windows 98SE, Windows Me or Windows 2000, but is not supported
** lower spec video cards may work, but at degraded performance
Recommended
- Intel Core 2 Duo E6600 processor or AMD equivalent
- Windows XP or VISTA
- 2048MB RAM
- GeForce 8600/8800 GT or Radeon X1900 GT and higher
- 256MB video RAM
- DirectX 9.0c
- 2.0 GB of hard drive space for installation
For online racing, a DSL/Cable Internet connection is needed. Preferably not a low-speed wireless connection.
Testing has proven that a motherboard with the NVIDIA nForce 680 SLi chipset paired with the 8800 Series GeForce video card provides the best HIGH-END results for users wishing to run everything on MAX settings and at high resolutions.
Note that ASR is a DVD title. It will not work in a CD-ROM. The DVD also has to be in the DVD-ROM drive to run the game. The good thing about the DVD is it saves loading contents from 2 CDs since the title is 976.6MB installed.
Installation
Installation went easy, and those who have rFactor or GTR2, the config and settings for setting-up the controllers are easy. In fact, for anyone who is familiar with rFactor, everything having to do with loading or game setup is easy and well known. ASR has been designed from the ISI (ImageSpace Incorporated) GMotor2 engine. From the very first startup screen, everything is familiar. In minimal time I had my MOMO controller buttons set-up and was off to the races.
Installation is about where the comparisons stop. This is NOT an rFactor mod. ASR is just about as close to real as you can get. It feels nothing like the older NASCAR sims or the stock car mods for rFactor. It feels… well… more real. It took a long time to get this released and it shows in how well everything works right out of the box.
