Review: ARCA Sim Racing

Back To Page 2

Down the long Pocono straight.

Tracks and Cars

Initially you get ten tracks. There are more on the way. These and other periodic updates that will be made available at The Sim Factory web site. The track list is impressive and are all actual tracks that the ARCA Remax series runs in a season. No, you’re not running the generic "Jacksonville", "Alabama" or "Pennsylvania".

Included tracks currently at release include:

  • Daytona International Speedway
  • Talladega Superspeedway
  • Pocono Raceway
  • Kansas Speedway
  • Nashville Superspeedway
  • Iowa Speedway
  • Milwaukee Mile
  • USA International Speedway
  • Salem Speedway
  • DuQuoin Speedway (dirt)

The available car list includes every car and driver that runs the current ARCA Remax series — and a few "filler cars" that don’t — like a few Sim Factory cars. There's even a Dale Jr #88 AMP car.

I chose a car, hopped-in and give it a go. Checking out the setup screen in the garage, it looks like decent basic setups are already there. Basic track specific setups will leave you with a stable, driveable car to get a feel of each track. Good thing too for a stock car setup novice like myself. The setup page looks like a car crew chief’s dream. All kinds of things that I’ll need to learn to be able to setup my own cars. There are settings to “dumb down” for fun arcade like racing, but for those who want hardcore, it doesn’t get much more hardcore than this.
