Review: Logitech G25 Force Feedback Racing Wheel - Part III

Back To Page 2

Buttons & Switches

The paddle shifters feel great, and the inclusion of bumpers to prevent over-actuation of the micro switches is a welcome addition.

Buttons a-plenty, but quite honestly the location sucks. I have to look away from the monitor to find a button and take one hand off wheel. The top button on the shifter is useful for things like LCD display toggle, because it’s easy to find. But it still requires you to take one hand off the wheel.
Wish the wheel had two more buttons, like real race cars do. Any questions? Just look at the wheels of the cars in GTR2.

If I had to pick a problem area with the G25 it would clearly be the lack of buttons on the wheel. Two is too few, but four would have been perfect.  I can’t complain about the number of options Logitech has given us, however. Having that many programmable buttons, regardless of location, ensures that almost anything that needs to be programmed to a button can be, with “no function left behind.”

Next: In Part 4 "Chunx" looks at the performance of the G25 in GTR2, rFactor and Richard Burns Rally.
