The Year Ahead – DCS Edition

Well, 2015 is here, and, if you’re like me, you’re probably already looking ahead and trying your hardest not to salivate over the games that are sitting on the horizon. No matter what video game Digital-Combat-Simulator-DCS-World-Eagle-Dynamicsgenre you prefer, the start of a New Year stirs up all sorts of excitement; especially for those of us impatiently waiting for that one game which refuses to get a release date.

Now, without further ado, let’s turn our gaze to the folks over at Eagle Dynamics.

Five new painstakingly reproduced aerial vehicles are set to make their full version appearances in DCS World this year. Although all five have been available in their beta incarnations, I, for one, am looking forward to taking off in the polished, official versions of their predecessors. Of course, all release dates are tentative, but let’s keep our fingers crossed anyway.

First up is the Mi-8MTV2 Magnificent Eight by Belsimtek, who also created the UH-1H Huey and have a couple other releases making this list. The Magnificent Eight is hoping to show off its full glory by sometime in April.

Next, we have the AvioDev’s own C-101 Aviojet which comes in two models: the C-101EB and the C-101CC. Both models are included in the purchase which is currently 30% off the final price for pre-purchasers.  If all goes according to plan, the finalized Aviojet should be available in April as well.

Belsimtek makes another appearance this year with their faithfully recreated F-86F Sabre which will finally come out of beta, I hope, this coming May.

The German Bf 109 K-4 Kurfürst, which has been challenging everyone since Eagle Dynamics announced its beta release last August, will continue to challenge us when the final version lands this July.

Lastly, Belsimtek will release the beta version of their MiG-15bis this February. The Soviet Era jet fighter is currently 10 dollars off for pre-purchase on the DCS E-shop.

Now, before I say goodbye, for those of you who are interested, yesterday a tiny hint from AvioDev suggested that their next project would be the F-104. Reddit user Why485 caught the clue and relayed it to the world. Excited? I am. (Reddit post // Source thread)

What other games or expansions are you guys eagerly awaiting this year? Let me know and perhaps I can dig up some info!
