The throttle of the freeware TBM 700 suffers a bit from 'ketchup bottle' characteristics (first there's nothing, then there's nothing, then you get it all at once). I've made a mod that makes it easier to control.

Avsim link: http://library.avsim.net/download.php?DLID=106886

You'll also find it if you search the Avsim file library for "tbm smooth" (without the quotes).

Short fix summary:
- A fix for the 'ketchup bottle' throttle problem.
- Torque gauge doesn't max out.
- No blackout when toggling panel on/off with the W key.
- Horizon now visible by default.
- Missing rear navigation lights added (by Cirrus
Productions)

In addition, I've included instructions on how to turn your TBM 700 into a TBM 850 the quick & dirty way.

It's all described better in the ReadMe.pdf (now that we're in the 2000's, a simple readme.txt won't do ;)).

If you haven't got the TBM 700 by Michel Migaud, Cyril Breton et al, I strongly recommend it. IMHO, it's one of the better freeware models out there.

The TBM 700 wearing Edward Cox' repaint.

If anyone tops this in his sig, I'll just change mine to "My computer is bigger than yours".

OH!

Awesome!

This is a VERY nice freeware plane, a "must install", IMO. I'm very glad you made this fix for it too! \:D

Yes, it is. The file is TBM700_a.zip at Avsim.com. The 3d model and panel graphics are payware grade. Even the enclosed PDF manual looks so good, it will make you drool. I really like that TBM, that's why I went through the trouble of fixing the throttle.

If you like this one, you'll probably also like the AFG Pilatus PC-12, http://www.alliedfsgroup.com.

BTW, I'm using the Pilatus sounds for the TBM due to some strange noise when you rev down the prop for cruise (1750 revs). Those in the know say that it's a looping error.

Hi,

The sounds ..yes indeed...
I use the Pilatus also ...just it's to take care of the panel install....
I had no problems ..but read many posts of peoples with problems with the gauges etc...
Read carefully the instructions.

The biggest problem with the Pilatus, is that the readme tells you to read the instructions in a file that doesn't exist. Instead, you have to read this forum post: http://www.alliedfsgroup.com/cgi-bin/forum/YaBB.cgi?board=6;action=display;num=1148036350

The PC-12 installation sucks massively, but the model is so good that it's worth the trouble.

Awwwww I am using FSX. I have been looking for a good Turbo prop and the TBM or pilatus would be spot on the money. I currently have the Do 27 (aside from the framerate hit this plane is excellent) which i use solely for all my VFR flying as well as the level D 767 (haven't gotten into this one yet)

Just need a good turbo prop with excellent systems and flight modelling like the two above mentioned planes. I don't like default planes nor a lot of other planes as they are too simplistic and don't replicate the entire workload needed in real flying.

I guess i will have to wait until they upgrade them for FSX

I've heard that a lot of FS9 planes work in FSX, so just go ahead and try them. Waiting for an upgrade is a bad idea, since you'd probably have to wait for years. A TBM upgrade with added VC backlight was announced to be released "soon" back in late 2005, so the developers have seemingly disbanded or moved on to other projects. The AFG PC-12 still hasn't been updated with the missing installation instructions, so that will probably not receive any attention in the near future either.
