While Viks is in the neighborhood I was wonder about hardware optimization.
The video's we've seen look pretty smooth. I was wondering what spec the PC has that ran the demo's is?
its actually where shoot on standart PC workstation here (we have had some "rearming" here last month) specs are core 2 duo E6600, RAM 4 gb, GF 8800GTX 768 mb Is there going to be support for dual graphics, dual processors etc?
yes, and as ive wrote before - it runs almost twise faster on 2x core CPU than on 1x It seems that hardware is going in the direction of multicore CPU's and GPU's (SLi, Tri-SLi,Quad-Sli etc.) A few of the newer games use these new architectures, whereas IL2, for instance, does not scale very well at all in Crossfire. It would be nice to think KotS is going to include this kind of optimization when it comes out
well, time will show everything

S~! Ive got a question. For KOTS what would be an acceptible "texture fill rate" for a single gpu solution. Assume the card will have 512mb of ddr2 memory. From what I've read online, the payback for going multi-gpu isn't good enough for me to spend the extra $$. A little help, please? I've been comparing video cards at http://www.gpureview.com and have seen where cards considered to be top tier seem to have larger texture fill rates. For instance, a Radeon 3870/512 seems to trounce an 8800GTS/512 except for texture fill rate (even bandwidth is greater) yet the GTS is considered the faster card. Very odd, but that's what's being reported. check the following link, and get back at me. Flyby http://www.gpureview.com/show_cards.php?card1=548&card2=547

The only thing is sure, that - faster card = better textures.

(I guess so, since card makers can do it) I see from your answers that a dual core processor will benefit KOTS the most. So, if I get a dual core 3.0 processor does that translate to one core of 1.5ghz being dedicated to KOTS? I'm really trying to understand how it works. What makes for a good processor, and what makes for a good video card insofar as running KOTS? Ram? The more info the better, i think. Flyby out

negtive, it means that both cores work on 3ghz and both can operate with parralel tasks/threads, in KOTS we have a multi thread architecture, and thats cause it works much faster on multi core processors What makes for a good processor, and what makes for a good video card insofar as running KOTS? Ram? The more info the better, i think. Flyby out
all of that will make it work faster

rgrt VikS, thanks for the reply, and the correction. Dual cores now sound even better! Flyby out

What we are wondering VikS is, for KotS are you running physics on one core if you are running it on a dual-core machine?

Is this the time to go out and buy a physics card? Wouldn't it be great if it were, just in time for KOTS? If not, is KOTS better served by a quad-core processor? Flyby out ps what's the status of gennadich.com? It appears to be down at the moment.

Ming yes, somehow like that, but with one correction - there can be a few threads on one core (depends on system managenment).

Time to study Nvidias plans to run hardware physics (physics driverset really) on graphics cards above 8800 and they're probably going to crowbar hardware physics on to a graphics card at some point, definitely not time to spend huge amounts of cash on a physics card- but then if you don't get one you miss the buzz of enjoying the early cutting-edge kit...

we still aint ready to speak abot 4x core and other stuff - we havent test it yet, as soon as we will - we will inform about it;) ps what's the status of gennadich.com? It appears to be down at the moment.

Morning VikS, thanks mate that sounds very interesting! Can you take advantage of local graphics-card memory? My card has 768MB, is KotS optimised to use this local RAM for anything? Will KotS know about Vista x64 and lots of system RAM? Just wondering not a biggie, I am probing your resources Ming

you mean GPU on-board memory? if yes - as much of memory you have on GPU - as better textures you can use Will KotS know about Vista x64 and lots of system RAM?
dunno yet Just wondering not a biggie, I am probing your resources Ming i knew that
