Thought it might be fun if anyone could identify the two German Jagdstaffeln displayed in the following KOTS screenshots?

These are skins of distinctive Albatros D.Va aircraft that were deployed during the Spring of 1918, and illustrate some of the work being prepared by the KOTS artists:

Hey Fly - where did you get those shots? Are they recent?

They're WIP images that might give you an idea of the type of preparation the KOTS developers are putting into this project of theirs (aircraft w/distinctive insignia, from featured historical units that fought in the Great War).

Barkhorn, how about taking a stab at which two Jastas might be reflected by the aircraft above (or anyone)?

The lower left machine with the name 'Fratz' on it is Kurt Seit's Albatros D.Va which he flew while being a member of Jasta 80b. So the three Albatros with the black and white painted elevators seem to be Jasta 80b. The fourth with black and red striped elevator I have no clue.

I don't know enough to name which Jastas these are from but these pics just make me crazy impatient for the game even more.

Well, since Gremlin got the first one - I will take the second. And the answer is = Jasta 64w.

Correct?

You guys are sharp.....both Gremlin and Barkhorn are correct (and well done)!

Alright, these Jagdstaffeln were formed in early 1918, and in the Spring of 1918......deployed in what area (?)

Jasta 80b probably was deployed in May 1918 in Alsace near Metz I think. Jasta 34w probably was deployed near Nancy because one of their planes was shot down in the vicinity of Gengoult Aerodrome near Toul, France on 14-April-1918.

Just a shot

Jasta 64 - Royal Wurttemberg was formed on 01/17/18 and deployed to the 5th Armee sector (Verdun) until late March when it was switched to the Armee-Abteilung C sector (St. Mihiel) where it was based until the armistice.

All you guys have the deployment area well covered!

Now its really just been a tease, but VikS and the KOTS Team are hard at work on the sim, so the above small WIP sample.

Btw, I see Franksvalli has a few of these screenshots in higher-res on his website:

Wondering if this is a decal markings generator test or full separate skins for each plane?

Either way it's looking really nice.

Hi Kevin,

They're made as individual aircraft skins (ought to end up resulting in quite a portfolio).

Ah nostalgia, I hadn't been to Wings of Honor for a long time. Good to see it still up and running, it was one of the first websites I bookmarked during my first tentative steps online in '98,when Jupes ran it. Wings of Honor, "Cages World" and the infamous Delphi Flight Sim Forum (now that was a good example of how a forum should be ) are where I started this expensive hobby of mine

It climbs better than that, ask Wolfgang von Wellhassen and Baron von Helton

Just a minor correction. In 1998 Jupes ran simcombat.com. Only later in 2000 he started with Wings Of Honor.

From the archeologists of the internet: Early evidences ;o)
