- Well, it's New = Years Eve,=20 time to get out of here and go to my party. I just want to = wish all=20 my viewers, software companies, online magazines and = especially, all=20 my friend's a very Happy New Year. 1997 was a good year but = 1998=20 will be an incredible year! Just wait and see. :)) It has = already=20 started for me all because of one movie, Titanic. Yes, its = only a=20 movie but it had some strong messages which made something = in me=20 snap and now i'm seeing things i haven't noticed before. = Life is=20 short, way too short. You never know when you number will = come up so=20 you have to live your life to the fullest everyday. I wasn't = doing=20 that and this movie made me notice it. I also took a trip = this=20 summer with my best friend Ron M. which started the wheels = of change=20 in motion (Titanic just gave me a slap in the face). Being = out in=20 the mountains and hiking it up made me feel alive, something = i=20 hadn't felt in years. I used to just survive but now I want = to LIVE.=20 This is my New Years resolution.....to LIVE in 1998 = and every=20 year after that.

- For you people thinking of upgrading = your PC's=20 because of a few new simulations coming soon, Online Gaming = Review had=20 some news=20 that Intel will be=20 cutting their prices on the Pentium II -233 from $401 to = $268 for=20 the CPU. This price decrease may already be in = effect.

- Gamespot = has a review of Longbow 2 from Janes Combat = Simulations. Like everywhere else, it got a very good = rating.=20

- Computer=20 Gaming World has some strategies for Interactive Magic's iF-22. I think this = may be a=20 repost though but sometimes it's good to refresh your=20 memory.....especially after tonight. ;)

- Microrpose has=20 updated their site to include info and many screen shots on = M1 Tank Platoon 2, which is due out in the = summer of=20 98.

- Not pc related, I just have to say that if you = haven't=20 seen Titanic, I highly recommend it. Titanic has become No.1 = on my=20 all-time movie list along with Dances with Wolves and = Braveheart ...=20 to name a few. The soundtrack is great too. Crimson hasn't = been the=20 same since and is seeing=20 blue.

- "RELEASE LIST" = updated.=20 According to Electronic Boutique, Search and Rescue = from Intense = Entertainment=20 has been release.

- Some copies of F22 Air Dominance = Fighter=20 from DID = have been=20 spotted in some stores in the US. These copies have the = Ocean logo=20 which is the US version however F22 ADF is not supposed to = go into=20 full release until roughly Feb. 98. Ocean has stated that it = was=20 going to release a limited quantity of copies for Christmas. = Grab=20 them will they're hot!

- One more site redesigned! Empire = Interactive=20 has changed their look and have finally added information = and screen=20 shots on their upcoming sim MiG=20 Alley.

- According to Getzen at TUCPRHQ, Microsoft=20 will be releasing its second patch for CART Precision Racing = in=20 early January. MS has sent out the beta patch to=20 testers.

- Eagle=20 Interactive has updated their web site.......yet, still = no info=20 on Phantom = Ace.

One special note that many people = were=20 wondering, Su-27 Flanker 2.0 WILL have an english cockpit as = an=20 option.

- One note about Electronics = Boutique,=20 they have F22 ADF from Digital Image Design being released on Dec = 29/97.=20 Don't know if this date is good or just an imaginary date on = their=20 part. Rumor has it that they WILL be getting F22 ADF soon. = Want is=20 not known is if it's the UK version from who knows, or the = US=20 version from Ocean. We'll keep our fingers crossed. = :)

- Looking for a preview of F1 Racing Simulation from UbiSoft? = Then head on=20 over to PCGames.

- Abacus = has released=20 Flight Deck, an add-on to Microsoft's Flight Simulator 98 that = enables you to=20 fly 25 famous carrier-based aircrafts spanning the past 50 = years.=20 Its also includes 4 aircraft carriers and new cockpits. To = bad we=20 can't shoot anything down. ;)

- PC Multimedia = &=20 Entertainment (PCME) has added a review of Flying Corps Gold from Empire=20 Interactive.

- On the subject of Falcon 4, the Microprose will be=20 releasing an "instant action" demo of F4 on Computer Gaming = World's=20 March 98 issue. The demo is apparently 80MB. Let's hope it = also=20 shows up on some sites but I doubt it would be before that = CGW issue=20 is released.

- Combat Simulations has put up a new=20 preview of Falcon 4 from Microprose. They also put up a Longbow 2 = strategy=20 guide.

- We were going to put up some 3Dfx screen shots of iF-16 but I guess Digital = Integration=20 beat us to the punch. As you know, they are developing the = patch for=20 Interactive Magic for the US version. Our thanks to Trym and = Mike K=20 for letting us know.

- Adrenaline Vault has put up a demo of NovaLogic's Armored Fist 2. It's 13.7MB in = size.

- Slight change to the "RELEASE LIST". There = are a few=20 cosmetics changes as well as a new link called "OUT NOW = LIST" which=20 shows most of the released sims. So now the "RELEASE LIST" = only show=20 simulations that are in development. Any simulation that is=20 available will be placed in the "OUT NOW LIST". - Sharky at Voodoo = Extreme=20 is da man! :) VE got news that Microprose is on schedule for a Christmas = 98 release=20 of Geoff Crammond's Grand Prix 3. And I thought this issue = was dead=20 6 months ago....seems Microprose were able to keep it a=20 secret.
Pieter Grand Prix 2 Homepage also reports = this=20 information. Pieter has a bit of info in his FAQ=20 section and mentions that GP3 should have 3D card and = network=20 support.

- Remember a few days ago, we=20 mentioned that Jazz=20 Multimedia had a 12MB Voodoo 2 card coming called Renegade 3D. Well, seems they changed = their tune, it=20 is now at 6MB. Guess it was a typo or something. Thanks to = JF for=20 let us know.

- The Unofficial CART Percision Racing HQ has a = list of=20 bug fixes in the next patch for Microsoft's racing sim. One = other=20 note, seems the Glide patch that was orginally announced has = been=20 cancelled. Getzen has some details why on his page but the=20 programmers at Terminal Reality, who programmed = CPR, say they=20 did tests and could not get it to be more efficient than the = D3D=20 version. The new patch for the present version will make the = framerate 25-50% faster.

- Combat = Simulations=20 has put up a review of Air Warrior 3 from Interactive=20 = Magic.

- Good news for CART Precision Racing = owners. News=20 from Getzen's page, The Unofficial CART Precision Racing HQ, = says=20 Microsoft has released a paintkit and he also has a few = details on=20 the new patch to be released soon. - Updated the = "RELEASE LIST".=20 Added SSI's Harpoon ⁴. I realize this is getting = into a=20 grey area since it is a strategy game as well as a sim. = We'll decide=20 if it should be on here or if we'll add more grey area. = Considering=20 that, then i guess we could (but probably won't) include = games like=20 maybe Heavy Gear, Steel Panthers III or some other grey area = games/sims...yes its debatable. We'll see.

- Off = topic, Operation = 3Dfx has=20 news that Jazz=20 Multimedia has annouced a new Voodoo 2 card called Renegade 3D. It will have a whopping 12MB = of memory.=20 Ouch!!! If you ask me, this is THE card to get now......hmm, = better=20 put it right at the top of my "to buy" list for my new PC. = :)) The=20 card will be available in March 98.

- You may have = noticed=20 the new graphic logo on the left side and now on the main = frame.=20 Rick has been working pretty hard at it, in between missions = in=20 Longbow 2 and F/A-18 Korea i'm sure. ;) Right now, how = about a=20 big round of applause for Rick.... ok me too, i did put in = the=20 pictures in the logo. :))

- = Interested in Suncom's Split=20 Throttle? Rhard saw this post on the newsgroups about it. = Sounds=20 real good so far from the Prototype. Hmmm, wonder if it will = work=20 with Janes F-15.

Hey = guys,

I've=20 been playing with Prototype #2 (the FCC's got #1) of = Suncom's=20 upcoming Strike Fighter Series Throttle for the past = week and=20 I must tell you that this thing is sweeeeeeet! If any=20 controller ever looked "like it was ripped right out = of the=20 cockpit of a fighter jet" this is it. The SFS Throttle = is a=20 hybrid of the actual F-15 and F/A-18 quadrants and = dwarfs even=20 the TQS. As you've heard, it does indeed have split = grips=20 which can be used as a single unit, split for = throttle/rudder=20 (very odd!) or multi-engine when the support arrives.=20 Programming is Talon-style -- pick the button & = enter the=20 keypresses (including macros) -- and may also be used = to=20 program the fire buttons (and CH hat) of any other = joystick=20 (chorded, of course). 80 commands on 16 programmable = positions=20 plus 20 more on a standard 4-button stick. I'll only = have the=20 thing for another day or two before I have to give it = back=20 (very reluctantly, I might add) so if you have any = questions=20 let me know ASAP. The prototype pictures up at = CombatSim (if=20 they're still there) aren't significantly different = from the=20 final version, so check it out. I can honestly say = that once=20 the thing is available at retail (in January) I will = be=20 retiring my Saitek combo (at least until their = stand-alone=20 throttle comes out) and F-22/TQS (ditto on a = stand-alone TQS)=20 in favor of the SFS Throttle and Talon or = Eagle.

- I thought i'd = seen it all=20 about hard drives, IBM=20 has not only made a big EIDE HD but it also spins at 7200 = RPMs. They=20 have models ranging from 10GB to 14.4GB. - I just = went to=20 Simulation=20 Technologies. They are taking orders for F22 ADF from = DID but=20 its the UK version. The US version will be available Feb = 28/97,=20 according to Sim Tech.=20

- Here's some news = about the=20 3Dfx Patch that Digital Integration is working on for = iF-16 (I-Magic - North=20 America) or F-16 Fighting Falcon (Digital Integration - = Europe). It=20 is smooth as glass even on my P166 with the 3Dfx, of course. = The=20 terrain is obviously not pixelated, the exhaust from the = F-16 on the=20 outside view looks great and very realistic. I see no = tearing=20 of the textures or other abnormalities. I'm not sure if = anything has=20 really been modified but i'll keep you posted if i notice = anything=20 different.....In all honesty, it feels like a new sim. =

-=20 Just got off Operation=20 3Dfx, they mention that Mission Studios has released a patch for = the mission=20 editor in JetFighter: Platinum Edition. Look in their news = section=20 for the patch link.
