Navy News (Australia) reports that a new=20 multi-agency command responsible for coordinating the=20 protection of Australia=92s offshore assets including = oil and=20 gas platforms, will be formally launched soon. Called = the=20 Joint Offshore Protection Command, the group will = initially=20 comprise Customs and the ADF. Its principal assets = assigned to=20 do its daily business will be the eight Bay Class = Customs=20 patrol boats, the RAN=92s Fremantle Class patrol = boats, (to be=20 replaced by the Armidales) and Coastwatch aircraft. = Read more=20 here.
