Barometric altimeter VD-10 Designed to determine and maintain the flight altitude relative to the level of that isobaric surface, the atmospheric pressure of which is set on the barometric scale.

The main components of the altimeter are a sensitive element (aneroid box), a transmission-multiplier mechanism, an indicator part, a mechanism for setting the initial pressure, and a hermetic housing.

On the front of the device there are two movable triangular indexes indicating on the altitude scale the height corresponding to the measurement of barometric pressure relative to sea level pressure (760 mm Hg). The indications of the indexes are read in the same way as the readings of the altimeter needles. One index shows the height in kilometers, the second - in meters.

The height scale is calibrated for the narrow arrow from 0 to 1000m with a digitization of 100 m and a division value of 10 m. For a wide arrow, the same scale is used, calibrated from 0 to 10000 m, with a digitization of 1000 m and a scale value of 100 m.

The barometric pressure scale is graduated from 670 to 790 mm Hg. Digitization through 5 mm Hg. with a division price of 1 mm Hg. The barometric pressure scale makes it possible to correct the altimeter readings when the atmospheric pressure at the landing site does not match the atmospheric pressure at the ground at the time of departure.
