“Viper lead, in hot!”

A muffled curse from Vasily, and grunting, as he carried out a hi-G maneuver. “There’s a SAM down there! SAM launch!”

As I rolled into my bomb run, I could see Vasily’s MiG dropping flares, and smoking from one engine.

“Report status, two!”

“I’m all right. Just a little shrapnel. But watch out for SAMs on your run, Sacha!”

I’m committed now. I pop my external tank and line up on the smoking wreck of the Shilka gun vehicle Vasily blew up with his rockets.
