Another fantastic feature of X-Plane is the replay feature. Just like the 3D tracking information, the replay information is constantly being saved without you having to do anything, it happens automatically. Whenever you want to review a landing or maneuver, just enter the replay mode and pull the slider on the track bar to wherever you want. It is quick and doesn’t require you to wait through any playback to get to wherever you want to be. Change views, pause, speed-up, slow motion, it’s all there.
Night illumination is pretty good. I particularly like the way the landing light gradually illuminates the landing area as you approach the ground. Runway lighting, approach lights and city lights are exceptionally well done. The lights are just the right amount of luminescence, not overdone. Cockpit lighting could be better, but I didn’t test to see if all of them are exactly the same. The red floodlight effect is more appropriate for a submarine than an airplane. All of the airplanes I fly have normal white lighting or electroluminescent lettering.
