Falcon 4.0: Allied Force Page 11

Town centers and cities are a bit more densely populated now. This will certainly be interesting for those “down the air duct” attacks on command and control targets.

The Balkans terrain is particularly nicely done. It is almost “moody” and is reminiscent of flying around the fjords of EF2000. The palettes are darker, the skies are a bit dimmer and even the runways are a bit different lending to more difficulty with depth perception.

The Balkans also appear to be a bit more mountainous than North Korea, with excellent opportunities for some terrain masking and valley running.

3D models are tight for some aircraft and loose for others. The F-16 obviously looks great, as do some of the Eastern fighters (like the Su-27 and the MiG-29). There will probably be some people complaining about the other relatively blocky, low poly aircraft that haven’t been brought up to current mod standards. Lead Pursuit had to make some decisions based on a lot of different variables, not the least of which is ownership of recently developed work for F4. There will probably be three camps here. Those of us that are happy that we have a new version of F4 out and are hoping this sows the seeds for further refinement. Then there will be some in the F4 veteran camp that got used to the high quality models, skins and features of FreeFalcon and SP4.x. There is no question that some of those models and skins would be great additions to F4:AF. Then there are the folks who are used to LOMAC’s graphics and may not appreciate the lower poly models that exist in F4:AF. To each his own, as long you enjoy it. Again, we’ll have a better idea what’s possible once Lead Pursuit announces their plans regarding 3rd party mods.

For now the F-16 variants looks great and the burner effect looks really nice.

Planes we aren’t used to seeing in the Korea theatre make appearances in the Balkans. The C-17 and the Tornado are just two of many examples.
