As I climb up to altitude I can just sneak a peek at the airfield as the F-15E heavy hitters hit the field just after us. White smoke pours from the airfield perimeter as the enemy guns try to shoot down the next wave but explosion after explosion rocks the compound knocking out hangers, buildings and the other runway.
My displays are dead and the AWACS has gone off station for some reason so I can’t get a steer from him. I can’t find my wingmen because they are all damaged from the attack run. Wingman #2 seems particularly perturbed when I query the flight for damage assessments. He reels off a list of about 15 things that are “Tango Uniform” (you can guess what that means). I’m surprised he is still flying at all!
Turning to my analogue instruments I look up the TACAN frequency for Osan on my kneeboard (094X) and enter it into the manual TACAN frequency selector on the left side panel.
As I track the TACAN back to Osan a dialogue box pops up on the screen proclaiming the US as the winner. Our combined damage to the airfield earned us enough points to win and it looks like not a single enemy aircraft penetrated our defenses since no points were earned by them.
