Testing out the physics of the belly landings that Shockwave touts was fun and seemed to accurately depict the feeling of skidding one of these babies in. Not having landed gear up in my career (knock on wood) I can only comment that it feels right with a bit of uncommanded yawing once a wing starts to drag.
The Supermarine “Spitfire” is a joy to fly. Fast, maneuverable, yet with forgiving ground handling the Spit offers an excellent blend of all the qualities that made it such a successful and well loved airframe.
Not to mention there is an incredible aesthetic beauty to the elliptical wing design that oozes “wow” factor. Shockwave did a great job on the sounds in all of the aircraft, but the compressed air and hydraulic sounds in the Spit cockpit are very cool. Also, be careful not to pull negative-G maneuvers or the engine will start sputtering and belching smoke as the fuel unports!
