Then we come to my favorite aircraft of the group: the Mitsubishi A6M5 “Zero”. The iconic aircraft of the Japanese Navy initially struck fear into Allied pilots in the Pacific with its incredible maneuverability. Pilots quickly learned of weaknesses in the aircraft’s design and soon adapted their tactics to mitigate the “Zero” threat. The Shockwave version seems to accurately reflect all of the qualities that pilots who have flown the actual aircraft rave about.
The extreme maneuverability and exceptionally tight turning radius are incredible. Basically you can point this aircraft in any direction you please and it responds nimbly and predictably. High-G banks and turns that would rapidly put you into an accelerated stall and spin in other aircraft are handled with aplomb by the “Zero”. I also like the look of the “Zero” which shows a bit more weathering than the other models in the package.
