Conclusion

No game is perfect and BiA is not the exception to that rule, but it does have some exceptional features. The best features to me were the “teamwork”, the interaction of the characters and the overall atmosphere of sights and sounds. In most games the AI or bots are nameless drones who run into battle and either die or do well and you don’t really care either way. Not so here. The single player missions are among the best I’ve played out of the many first person shooters I’ve owned.

The biggest disappointment to me is not being able to go places where it seems like you should be able to go. Something is not right when you can’t walk through an open doorway. Close it, if you must! The gun wobble was a big issue, but improved with the latest patch and I still don’t know why it takes so many shots to bring down an enemy soldier — unless you hit him in the head. And no prone or leaning positions. Ouch. The rest of the negatives were not significant — just annoying.

I enjoyed playing BiA. It has some outstanding game play ideas that I think others will want to emulate At times it felt less like I was playing a game on a computer and more like I was in WW II France fighting for my life, the lives of my buddies, and looking for tactics to somehow win another battle. And I think that’s what the developers were trying to achieve with BiA. So, don’t be surprised if, after you’ve taken out that enemy machine gun nest with a well-placed grenade, you feel a certain sadness when you retrace your steps and find the body of a squad mate behind the overturned cart where you last saw him. After all, you’re responsible for his safety and continued success and the responsibilities of a squad leader can be heavy indeed.

Poor George.
