Final Opinions and Recommendations
Theatre of War looks to be a serious contender for the best real time strategy wargame ever created. It is polished, realistic and certainly going to be a challenge for anyone who enjoys the genre.
The lack of building entrance by ground troops is something that a lot of people will squawk about, and needs to be fixed. There may be some other gripes (a lack of in-city fighting, no really dense woods) but in general this is a pretty good representation of combat on the steppes of Russia and the fields of France.
The game is due for release in April. Pre-orders are being taken at the Battlefront.com web site. I plan to put my order in, and I’m pretty confident the final version will have a decent mission editor and that this title will have enough traction to maintain itself for a while.
But please Battlefront and 1C, fix the lack of building entrance by ground troops.
