Mission Editor

This would have to be one of the best Mission Editor’s I have ever seen. The mission editor is so good, that it is possible to play your own missions and not only enjoy them, but also be challenged to complete the objective.

The key to what sets this mission editor apart from the mission editors of other games is that that single missions also use the dynamic campaign engine; therefore, you do not need to worry about filling the ocean with ships. The game engine will do that, and do it with historical accuracy.

How can a mission that I created be any fun for me to play when I know everything? Let me show you taking you through the process.

Let’s say the mission is to sink the Aircraft Carrier HMS Avenger before she reached Gibraltar. In this mission, you have HMS Avenger leave Scapa Flow with eight Escorts in two groups of three and five. The first group of three escorts will be attached to the aircraft carrier and the second group of five escorts will not. Next we plot a course around Scotland and Ireland following roughly the HG (Liverpool to Gibraltar) convoy route.

We place the U-Boat 2000 kilometres north-west of Spain.

We now have a complete mission, you add the mission briefing, etc. and save. It is that easy.

The mission however will probably not be that challenging or have any replay value. To remedy this we continue by adding waypoint radius’s (up to a massive 500 k’s) at some or all the waypoints, we know have expanded the search area many fold. We can now add triggers that would increase the amount of escorts and/or aircraft if a one of the escort ships were sunk. Making the picking off the escorts an unenviable tactic even for those using very low realism settings.

Now with the search area greatly expanded and with the addition of hundreds of other merchant ships, escorts and aircraft along with your groups the world is alive and will be very different each time the mission is started without you having to labour for hours. In addition, the vessels will be historically correct for the period.

Now we have a mission that has great replay value and would be a challenge even to you.

The world. Ship list.
