So i dont know if this made it abroad, but Rio Grande do Sul, Brasil, just had the biggest flood in history with the break of a dam, bigger even than the great flood of 41, the city is completely under water, bridges and road wich were the only acess crumbled under the water forces, people all over the country volunteered and guess what ? the police is barring volunteers from helping because they dont have license for the boats, yeah man, people are dying, taking shelter on their roof with no food,but the biggest danger is god forbid someone drive a boat without permit on the flooded streets with no acess.

So far, I haven't seen this getting covered in U.S. media. Flooding is an awful disruption to people's lives and health. Prayers for those at risk.

Thanks for all the goodwill, im not in a afected area but the problem is greater then the media is portraying, whole towns are lost. the governament is more worried about hiding its failure than helping, and im honestly not sure if this is just the standart left incompetency or downright political vengeance as rio grande do sul is in weight pro bolsonaro and lula has spoken in public that those people need to be extirpated on campaign (to the brazilian left anyone from right is far right and fascist,they always try to portray santa catarina and Rio grande as nazi nest because of the german influence of settlers)

the water is not receding in fact its going up, and a strong chilly wind and rain are expected for the weekend wich will make the operations harder.

-the ministry of propaganda activated the attorney general to PROSSECUTE people who were spreading fake news about the operations....well turns out the fake news were true as confirmed by one tv media not aligned with the gov. the state was withhelding trucks with donation supply because they had no receipt, and fining trucks that were over the weight limit with donations. the federal governament took 2 days to actually start moving, at one point a businessman from santa catarina had more private helicopters he donated for rescue operations in the air than the air force acting in the area
- lots of people are refusing to leave their homes for fear of plunder,specially since there is no actual control on the ground, i have a friend in the army and he told me, word is at least 6 neighbourhood are lost to traffic taking advantage and the army cant intervene without GLO wich the president and mayor are refusing so it doesnt taint their image for the upcoming months election.
-the army is not helping civilians to safeguard their safety, as they claim their mission is only rescue on the water,and if they acted as police they can be prosecuted,and the brigade is only working untill 18h, as such some provisional shelters were attacked and some people lost their last belongs
-they sent #%&*$# recruits to help, green boots from obligatory service, a bunch of kids ! they were complely lost without guidance from superior.
-there are reports now on x of people not being able to get food donation because someone set a limit of donations of thet day and told them to return the other day, like.....its not even governament food, they just wanted to centralize the distribution so it looks like they are doing something
-unlike the media claim, the majority of people rescue were done by the people not state agents, cos they stop searches when its start to rain or at 19h, while volunteers continued to work to find people even through the night and morning, its all on x.

rio grande do sul is the biggest producer of rice in brazil, so there is already talks of shortage, and it doesnt help that 2 months ago lula and his comunist governament decided to donate to Cuba our reserve rice surplus.But what piss me the most is this governament donated 150 water purifies to palestina this last week, but not a single one to RS. people had to make a online donation to buy them and distribute.

the incompetent way the gov is dealing with this tragedy is creating a lot of ancaps, first the fireman team says they cant use their jetski because the mud waters are not ideal, so people donate theirs to civilians (not state) so they can get to people, now (yesterday 12/05) a storm came and the army stoped operations, but not the people who braved the storm to continue the help. all the while the ministry of defense and the ministry of propaganda are more worried about people showing this online than helping.

I"m really sorry about this Blade. That disaster in Brazil is of epic terrible proportions. What's also sad is that a CAT 1 hurricane coming to Florida gets more news/media attention in the US than this major disaster did in Brazil.

now its affecting argentina and uruguay, both countries share the uruguai river with brasil, and the overflowing is flooding some neighboring cities, in uruguay 2000 people were evacuated, and 500 in argentina so far
both country need to call for a international investigation and sue brazil as it seems this was negligence from brazil the dam doors engines were stolen and theones remaining dont work because didnt receive mantainanece, the system is not fully sealed, and the of the 23 pump engines,only 4 were working.
