Not much R3R on my end, aside from a bit this afternoon. Mostly doing the fixed Ferrari at Monza on LMU online. Managed to do 1.53 which Is my best so far and happy about that because I was In the 1.55 In most of the races, and of course that´s not good at all. Folks be doing 1.48 or 1.49 In poll position. I also managed to get my rating up a bit. Had some crazy laps too. On one, right after the first chicane a car In front of me went under the car he had In front In a wedge action which caused that car to fly over and land on the roof of mine! I even had him on top of my roof for a few yards LOL. That race ended fast for me and the wreck fest ahead of me!

The thing Is that when I went back to R3R this afternoon everything felt weird, specially the FFB and the steering animation Is hard to get It to match mine which was driving me nuts!. I did manage to do some laps on the FJR at Pau which was the only car that felt right to me today, It was fun, the combo Is quite fun really. LMU Is a hard title to beat when It comes to sensations I am afraid, so I might have to change the order In how I start my sim sessions.

We have the board locked down lol.

Yeah, I did this one the other day to get familiar with the track, never drove here before. I saw the leaderboard challenge and headed here, but that's the wrong car lol.

Good lap Red.

No, now go away or I shall taunt you a second time!

I meant I thought it was a different Porsche, and I say that because when I went over to run the challenge the setup i had just saved wasn't there, making me think this was a different car. Maybe its not. Pretty cool track, good challenge car/track combo. 911s are always fun to drive fast

Oh wait, I thought this was leaderboard for the track, not the competition. But I see by my lap time it is the competition, but sorted by friends list. Don't mind me.

Nah, no worries! It´s a Porsche Cup car Challenge/Competition, so I was kind of "what do you mean" biggrin

Yes, the track Is fun. Never heard of It though.

When I saw the challenge appear i decided to do it, but before joining I thought I should learn the track first. So I went there, but mistakenly chose a different Porsche, a 2019 version of this car. After posting a lap I saw I was the only one to submit a time for this car/track combination.

When you posted that image I just thought you were the second one to do so, since there were no other names, and amazingly, that you has also chosen the wrong Porsche. It did not occur to me at first glance that you had filtered by your friends list. But then I looked at the actual lap time and realized it was my PB from the competition. At that point I had clarity. Sorry for the confusion.

I love Zeltweg in this configuration and this has been so since I first raced it in GPL. The Porsche feels well.balanced here and for now, I’ve slotted in a second behind you Derek.

Again, no worries Derek really, all Is cool! On the none friends list I am like In the 400´s, so theirs 400 above me that are better! In the friends list It doesn't look that bad for none of us biggrin

Another great aspect about R3R Is that one might jump Into a Challenge without knowing the car or track, which makes It more of a Challenge. There´s plenty of cars to choose from , and tracks!

Actually I am glad we can do this, and do It by just filtering to friends list. It´s a great way to see what some of us here on SimHQ are up to In R3R. I had no Idea you did that Challenge until I tried It. It can also encourage other´s who are on the fence about getting Into sim racing and R3R to give It a go.

I understand though, that like me when I first started about a year ago you really don´t want to get Into lap times just yet, but If you don´t start practicing and learning tracks you will never get that off of you´re back. You don´t need to spend a year either, I have been on and off doing other things, so It´s not like I have been just racing a whole year! It starts getting addictive after awhile because It´s fun, It also starts to be easier (learning tracks) the more you do It. There´s plenty of belt drives (wheels) on the used market now, It´s a great time now to get Into this If you are In doubt and like the Idea.

Cheers!

Another great lap. Good driving Jens. There are nearly 800 entries in this one.

Zeltweg is a different track no? Which event are we talking about haha?

I'm pretty inconsistent on the final turn complex (at Salzburgring) and it's such an important one for lap time. I think I could find a few tenths in there. Overdriving the entry I think. Slow in fast out right? I don't recall ever driving this one before, but if it was an addon in GPL maybe I did

I'm having a lot of fun with RaceRoom. The shine's come off the pick up racing a little bit now that I have a few races in my pocket. But the leaderboards and especially the events are fun. Just about every night I take another car around the Nordschliefe. I absolutely love driving this track, and have a good time trying to climb the ladders in various marks. Did the Pagani Zonda a couple nights ago and another go with the Fez 296 last night, shaving four seconds off the PB. Racing my ghosts around this track is fun.

The fastest GT3 lap is set by an Audi Evo II, actually the top two times. So I bought it last night, one of the last cars I had yet to own I guess, but didn't get on well with it. Needs some setup work. It's strange because I usually feel at home straight away in the other R8s I've driven, but this one was a little squirrely, like the all-wheel drive had the two ends fighting each other. It's a balance issue I think and just needs some track time

I mixed up the names! Was thinking of Salzburgring but my Zeltweg syndrome caused me to write that word instead of Salzburgring.

I’m in the 1.23.4’s now because I found more exit speed at the start of the lap into the start/finish straight, out of the chikane and around the turn onto the back straight, holding quite a tight line. And that final big right-hand turn where you scream in at almost full chat when the tires are hot and grippy is quite insane: Lift, turn in, 5th, full pedal until a quick breaking zone that hopefully rotates you and takes you into that final complex, 4th, then 3rd.

I feared a moment for my time because RR took quite a while before registrering it in sim and on the leaderboards. I’ve experienced that a couple of times now.

Wasn’t there a way to run against a visible ghost in RR? I have forgotten how.

Under gameplay, check show ghost cars smile

Just hit the X22 challenge again. It's Shanghai. My first attempt was an exercise in frustration, so I returned today to give it another go. I was doing wild setup changes hoping to understand how to make this thing benign enough to handle for a full lap. Finally got it in to a spot good enough to break 1:40 which was my target. The competitions can roll over now, I think I'm done

I´ll be trying RaceRank rF2 today and see what that´s all about. rF2 has some cool historical stuff too, so overall worth a look. It´s managed and run by one guy I think so It´s not anything official.

RaceRank rF2 Home site:
RaceRank rF2 Home

Here´s the original source:
RaceRank rF2 Beta

Looks something like this once logged In...

Good luck. It's a very difficult car to drive, or at least I think so. Really struggled with getting the power down out of slow corners. Not just loss of control, but like a lag in the pedal that suddenly broke loose and around I go.

I tried the normal things, like increasing the power side of the differential, but that only made it worse, the snap was more severe, the pedal lag worse. It took longer than usual to get the car in a good spot but in the end I was happy with my lap. No DRS or KERS I guess in leaderboard mode. Tried deploying them, but nothing happened.

I wanted to sharpen this challenge up as I want to get the D replaced with a B on my profile, and managed to knock five seconds off my time. To get the B rating a driver needs to be in the top 30% in the competitions he enters, though I don't know how long it takes. Just one day to run on this batch so we'll see if anything changes.
