I got a new mouse and in the past I would just unplug the old and plug in the the new. Its a nicer gaming mouse so I want to make sure its running with its own driver software. I haven't hooked it up yet but looking in device manager under "mice and other pointing devices" it lists three separate "HID-compliant Mouse" drivers. I only have one mouse on this PC so what could all those drivers be? Should I uninstall all three? If I uninstall all three and it asks to restart the PC, will windows install a basic driver if I then plug in the new mouse? If all that works should I then make sure the new mouse has its own drivers updated? I'm uncertain of what order to do things in and what the three older mouse drivers are which are listed under device manager. Thanks for any help on this.

Hey Coot, if it is a new gaming mouse there should be some drivers or software at the very least from the manufacter of the mouse.. I would check there for an updated driver.

Hey Nephilim thanks for the reply. Should I uninstall those other three mice drivers first that Windows says are installed?

Well just be mindfull if you do that you will have no mouse to navigate windows, you may need to do a hard reboot and then when you reboot the driver should be installed.. I just checked mine device manager and had 2 compliant mouse drivers so maybe they are all required even tho I too only have 1 mouse..

Okay I'll give it a try installing the new mouse first and see how it goes. Thank you again.

I haven't gotten to it yet Nephilim but I aim to here shortly. Its a Corsair M65 RGB Elite to replace a budget gaming mouse. I downloaded the Corsair software already. I sure do miss my Logitech G9X. Its the best mouse I've ever owned yet one day I was foolish and spilled a drink on it after having it for years. I should have bought two or three back in the day when they were a hundred dollars. I don't understand why a company that made such a great quality and designed mouse that is VERY desirable does not seek to continue making them. I see someone selling an unopened one on ebay for $700! I still have my original and haven't tried using it but even if I were to clean it there still may be damage. I also received another one from ebay used but I haven't tried using it as it came in a pretty filthy condition and the mouse wheel just spins. I didn't want to deal with it. Maybe one day I'll find someone who can actually repair it for me between the two.
