...When I click a thread title?

Annoying... Help pls!

Happens very often, even for threads I didn't visit before.

hmmm...ATM when I click on a thread it puts the first post at the top. However, i swear that on a few occasions it has dumped me at the last post.

I believe the SimHQ staff are working on resolving this problem:

I like them a lot. This is just a minor hiccup that i'm sure will be solved.

This is what I understand.

The software remembers where you were in a thread, and when you revisit, it takes you to next post that's new.

It's a feature, not a bug.

C'mon guys, I cannot honestly believe that the old board was better than this. It was not. But change is usually perceived as bad, initially. It's only been two weeks.

And as I have said 50 times, we had no choice about this. None.

Yes, I noticed it'll take me to the first new post. Not bad overall, but at first I was confused as I was used to doing it all manually.

But it also takes you to the last post in threads one hasn't read before. It doesn't remember the last post you read. It just takes you to the most recent post since your last visit. Surely this is an option in the software that can be turned off?

yup. first time i've been in this thread, straight to Gatticus' post.

Now I know many posters work like this and don't read any of the preceding post before letting the OP have their opinion, but for us old careful types, we like to read the whole thread before we reapeat what someone else has said and looking like a n00b \:D

I just visited several threads for the first time and that doesn't happen to me the first time i read a new post. I always get taken to the first post. Could be a preference or browser setting also be involved?

Nope, this isn't happening when I visit a recently visited thread. Could there also be a browser or site preference setting involved?

Same problem here. Sometimes it takes me to the last post of a thread I haven't looked at before and sometimes to the first post as it should.

For some reason it just isn't behaving consistently.

I have the same issue. And its not even the last post sometimes it will dump me into the middle of a tread despite never reading the thread before. And it is totally random.

OK, here is what I given to understand:

The software tracks a member's visits to a forum, not per thread. So, a member comes into the CH, reads 4 threads, but not the 5th, and leaves. When he comes back into the CH, the software believes that he read everything new that was in there from the time before. And so, when he goes to that 5th thread, even though he has never read it, it thinks he did and will skip to the newest post in that thread since the last visit.

Hope that makes sense.

Ah, well that makes sense, and would explain why I've been seeing this issue more in the last couple days. With less than enough time to read every thread, I skim along, and return later for more. Clicking a new thread that I skipped during my last visit indeed takes me to the middle or end.

Vienna, 2nd rock left.
Please if you can any way it takes, fix this. Now it's started to throw me on the third page thread of a discussion I've never seen started reading.

I really hate having to navigate around all the time just to read posts correctly.
