It is our pleasure to announce the start up of a new historical server capable of serving 80+ virtual pilots where the focus is teamwork and mission oriented.

Starting today the server will be available in Hypperlobby and All Seeing Eye. The theater of operations will be Mediterranean from July 10th 1943 and April 1944. As a historical server we will encourage the wearing of historical skins.

To this extent, we have created a very extensive skin pack with netcache that will ensure playability and immersion. All attempts in furnishing group ,markings have been made allowing you the participant a vision of what it must have been like.

Contributing skin artists:

  • Kristorf
  • Tony Taylor
  • Abraxa
  • Graf
  • VPMedia
  • Sparrow
  • Buglord
  • Canon
  • Monguse

Get Warwings Skin pack HERE
The contents of the skin pack can be found HERE

Being a mission oriented historical server we encourage and invite all virtual squads to join and wear the respective historical equivalents (1).
We also encourage screen shot artists to participate and record missions for their pleasure.

Warwings Server settings:
1. Icon Off
2. Turbulence on
3. Padlock Off
4. Minimappath Off
5. Cockpit On
6. Skin Download on (if you do not use skin DL please wear correct markings)
7. No death kick at this time.
8. No server password required at this time
9. Teamspeak: 70.87.121.84 NO PASSWORD

Stats Page:
http://www.favacw.dyndns.org/warwings/

Registration procedure:
Go to :
Statistic -> Registration
Enter your Pilot Handle and password (make your password your pilot name)
When password is enabled on the server, you will need to logon the server after you select a base by entering the following in the chat bar:
<logon<YourPassWord

Please note, you may join either Allied or Axis but you may only fly what you registered as. If you wish to fly for both sides (during this non campaign phase) you may enter two pilots (one for Allied the other for Axis). Also note changes may be in place when in campaign mode disallowing pilots flying for more than one side.

Rules: (simple version)
1. Base suppression is allowed.
2. Deliberate chute shooting is NOT allowed
3. Cheating, swearing, cussing in any language will get you a permanent ban. (We have a multi national participation)
4. Insulting a player will get you one warning only.

Please download the skin pack, join and enjoy.

1. At this time we can not generate every skin used in the Mediterranean. However, if your squad uses 95 to 100% historical skins we encourage you to submit your skins with their netcache equivalent for inclusion in the server as well as a separate netcache for participants. Please PM me for instructions

I'll expand a bit more today.

BTW it's not vulching, it's base suppression.

Monguse - What makes or breaks a server is the planeset. If you are going with a historic premise, the available aircraft on both said must be the historic. The problem with all these dogfight serves is the server admins always feel to the need to "balance things out" based on their idea of what planes should be excluded and included for whatever reason (be it too uder or not uber enough).

The available aircraft on both sides are historical. We have the recourses that can back up numbers and aircraft type and version by month and date along with munitions. Moreover, we limit aircraft load out using IL2 commander.

Hope you drop in sometime.

Would they have some Late 1944 to 1945 maps. I have seen a few rooms use them but they always fill up so fast due to the lack of good servers running any Late war birds like 262s and Spit 25lb...

It's been up. Just remember that at times we host the main server name, Winds of War, Warwings and Forgotten skies. Forgotten Skies in an on line war hosted by Winds of War server that serves 80+ people 3 night a week.

Thanks

Sounds good in theory, but I'd be willing to bet that just as in War Clouds, it just degenerates into a huge dogfight map in short order. In other words, most people ignoring the actual mission, and everyone out looking to raise their personal kill score.

Unstickied, but a big bump to the top!

The opinions of this poster are largely based on facts and portray a possible version of the actual events.

More dumb stuff at http://www.darts-page.com
