Hi all

I just installed back my FFB2 with the Sidewinder 4.0 software some few days ago. Soon I went to program the buttons, and then a 'shell32.dll, control_rundlljoy.cpl' message showed up and no way to do it, while the rest was OK. Well, following you will find a somewhat risky solution to this issue:

http://www.mhogaming.com/forums/archive/index.php?t-1512.html

In a few words: add rundll32.exe to the DEP list of exceptions, program the buttons [YES! now you can do it as in Windows98 times \:\) ] and get back to erase the DEP exception. Don't forget to verify this last step! Otherwise you are opening a big door to viruses and some other nasty guys into your PC.

It's funny.. I never had any problems whatsoever with getting my MS SW to install under XP.

Unfortunately not all of us are so lucky, mate, even when installing SW soft on a clean XP from scratch in my new rig. Well, there is always a trick for almost everything

I also had no problem with the MS SW. I had SP2 installed before installing the stick....I think there is an issue with SP2 and some controllers. I also have CH pro rudder pedals which I installed without the CH software before installing SP2, when I tried to install the CH software later, it wouldn't recognize the pedals.

I recently did a complete install of Windows including SP2 and had to do the DEP thing to get my recorder to work. I'll have to remember to install the SW software before installing SP2 next time, to see if it makes a difference.
