These crosswind landings in the 25T are killing me

I've flown the practise mission with the 8ms crosswind 15 times and have shredded at least 1 tire everytime. I've walked away safely everytime but the ground crew are getting angry and tired of changing tires. \:D

Are you shredding the nose or the mains? Are you landing crabbed or using wing low? You should land wing low and be sure to continue to deflect full ailerons into the wind after touchdown until you reach the stops and keep holding that deflection until you turn off. Try to keep the nose wheel off until that upwind main touches and you straighten out the rudder. Also realize the chute is going to weather vane you hard so deploy it late and release it as soon as you get down to where the brakes will stop you the rest of the way. Personally I think the 8ms crosswind is a little bit overdone. Isn't that like 20 knots? This heavy plane should plow right through that and after it has the upwind wheel down the mains should not even be tempted to peel unless that chute is cocking you around. If you have that nose wheel turned though it is definitely going shred since your forward speed is still so great.

Even taking my own advice I shred a nose wheel too often for my liking.

Sometimes main but always seem to cut that nosewheel, I think I'm letting the nose wheel touch down without being straight therefore cutting the tire. I'll just keep on practising.

Hope people realize that the speed is in meters per second , not in Knots or kph. Anything over 15 is like a hurricane. I was coming in for a xwind landing, popped the drogue and it ripped my tail off. \:\)

I love the modelling, but seems a little too sensitive, like transistioning from the tarmac to a taxiway in a xwind can pop the tire or break the front strut just by rolling over the threshold at the wrong angle. The wing dip is interesting when you dig it in and knock out a landing light.

Is there any way to tone it down just a notch? I don't think the real plane is that sensitive, (kick the tire and it pops). But you know , I kind of like it, it's a challenge..lol

Not really. \:\) 15 m/s converts to 33.55 mph. It's a "moderate gale"--32-38 mph (51-61kph) winds. Whole trees will sway and it can be hard to walk. But hurricane winds are roughly twice that speed. But 34 mph crosswind landings are definitely a challenge.

8 m/s is roughly 18 mph--a "moderate breeze".
