This game is looking great. How's the sound shaping up? ARMA and TOW were released with horrible, cheesy sound IMO, inexcusable in this day and age. Even the original Combat Mission had pretty exceptional sound, and Red Orchestra, CoH, and the Rainbow Six\GRAW games have set the bar where it should be...very high! I hate waiting for sound mods to correct this all the time. Any insight?
I mean, I guess it would just be a guy who you know, grabs bananas and runs. Or, um, a banana that grabs things. I don't know. Why would a banana grab another banana? Those are the kind of questions I just don't want to answer. -Michael Bluth

I am sure that modders can easily replace sounds they don't like. Since were still "early beta", sound effects aren't finalized yet, anyway.

Rainer, is there more variation in houses types? for example, coud we enter a middle size city or only little towns. About infantry, it would be ten or twelve soldiers as most of the picture or it would be massive infantry attacks? anyway, Im so exited about this game, Panzer Elite was so long ago.

Out of topic but how is ARMA, is good at single player because I hated the demo and the sounds ARMA's a mixed bag. Sounds suck just the same in the full as they do in the demo. In places I think it's even worse than the original OFP. The game seems to run a lot better than the demo though. It's pretty much as frustrating as the original for difficulty...the AI are still supermen. I here multiplayer is where it's at, but I don't have time for it with two kids Thanks Rainer. I remember the first time I played the Combat Mission demo and was blown away, not by the incredible graphics (as they kind of stunk ), but more by the booming, realistic sounds of battle. Sound really adds to the immersion in a game, as much as any other element IMO. I look forward to the demo. Whatever the case, it would be wise that the developers give us a demo that is indicative of the final release.

You are righ about the importance of sound in games Aleader, I think developers need to concentrate in sounds the same way they do with graphics. We have now sound cards with RAM! There is no excuse that a game like ARMA has poor sounds, I read somewhere that one key diference in Call of Duty 1 and 2 is that they triplicate the sounds and it shows!

Materials exist for Russian villages only at this time. But since this is the first in a series of games, there's hope that more content will be added later.

Rainer,
If modders add different sound files, etc., won't his effect MP? Does the sim have FTP for new files like RO does when joining a new map?
The pics look great; love the graded shadowing too.
gx007 I guess that changing the sound file for one's own game isn't a biggy; I don't think that that affects MP in any way. Can't tell you more about MP, as it is not currently implemented in our testversions..
