I'm after some goood images of a Pegasus XVIII radial engine.
The Science Museum has an XVII on display in London, which is probably pretty similar.
Is there anyone close enough who would be prepared to go in and get some good resolution digital images.

I would want a series of shots all round, on from each corner of an octagon so to speak,
but particularly a square on front, rear and side image.

There may be one at the Bristol Aero Collection, Kemble, Cirencester, but I'm not sure.

Untill the end of the year I could manage but I only get to London occasionally. When I get there next time I'd be glad to do it for you.

Thanks for the offer. Greatly appreciated. I also occasionally get to London but have no trips planned in the near future. Am hoping to be able to get across to Solway Aviation Museum at Carlisle Airport soon. They have a recovered example of an XVIII but I'm not sure what condition its in.

Be glad to mate. This is for building a model of the engine is it? You'll need to feed me with WIP updates later and perhaps a sub-contract to build a carburettor or something. Do radials have carburettors. Ok a spark plug then

Heading to Kemble tomorrow with my dad who used to work for BAC/Aerospace at the old Bristol factory in Filton. I'll take a camera and see what I can do.

Do I sense that the Luftwaffe are quite keen to confront flights of Hampdens?

Thanks for the link but I had already seen that one.
The image is wrongly captioned. It is actually a Bristol Mercury (although the file name suggests a Hercules), which looks a bit different. (see images of Hercules further down the page).
Not much different, but I want to try and get the appearance as close to correct as possible. I think the main difference is that the cylinders are longer in the Pegasus. This is a good example of the need to check sources. File name "Hercules", image caption "Pegasus", actual image probably a "Mercury"!!!

I had another wild goose chase to the Solway Aviation Museum. Rumour had it that they had two Bristol Pegasus. One was given to the ATC in Scotland, location unknown. The other was in very poor condition and has been cut up as a source of metal for melting down and making parts for other engines which are being restored. I think both came from a crash site. So at present I'm still looking.
