Excellent. The concrete textures in the last shot look amazing, the sort of thing you'd expect in a first person game. The look reminds me more than a bit of Stalker tbh.

I actually think it feels Eastern and current. Maybe I say that because it looks a bit austere and badly maintained, yes I know that's a stereotype but.....
It looks excellent within the limits of what can be achieved with current gfx tech and PC hardware. My only concern is the huge amount of work needed to populate the whole map with this level of detail.

Funny thing is, there are mods out there that will make LOMAC almost exactly that. They were created by the same people ED has working on these same things in BS. The really amazing detail, IMO, is in the new models. Those are like an order of magnitude better than the ones in Lock On.
In both cases you can see the original LOMAC lineage. Everything just looks better and more "lived in". There is a lot more going on at the air bases. The textures look better, especially from the vantage point you'd have in the Ka-50.
"By the way, even though I know its based on accurate data, it still pisses me off too when I'm about to gun someone and my screen starts to go black. I guess its only natural." - Pete Bonanni

As you say its an incremental increase but an easily visible one.

it is amazing the amount of effort being spent on it - it will require a beast of a PC to run it on a complex dense scenario. Agreed Does anyone know the reccommended PC spec for this game yet? Failing that do we have any beta testers here that could post their PC spec? The minimum spec previously reported seems way off for what we are seeing in teasers. Im due for a PC upgrade and would like it to match a healthy framerate on this game

EvilBivol, can you suggest a minimum GPU and recommended GPU? 7900-series? 8800? 9800? I can get an nVidia 6200LE with 256MB of memory for less than $30, and there is no question that card is a complete and utter piece of garbage. Please give us useful criteria. Sorry, but that is beyond my competency level. Honestly, I just don't know enough about video cards to say. Maybe another tester can help, or you can wait for official reqs to be released. Here's what our DCS FAQ says: Q: What are DCS: Black Shark minimum specifications? A: Although not final, we project the minimum specification to be as follows: CPU: 2 GHz; RAM: 1 GB; Graphics card: Nvidia GeForce FX with 256 MB of RAM / ATI Radeon X1300 with 256 MB of RAM or equivalent; 3 GB free HD space; Operating system: Windows XP SP2 and Vista with DirectX 9 or 10.
I'm running Black Shark on a 128MB 6600GT, 1GB RAM, Athlon64 3200 - probably what you would consider a low end machine today. It works with low-medium settings, but has a hard time keeping up. I am looking for an upgrade. So, you might consider those to be approximate minimum requirements. Personally, I can't say much more than that. We emphasize system and video RAM, because the dense cities, the 3d pit and models quickly load up the memory with objects and textures.

Does anyone know the reccommended PC spec for this game yet? Failing that do we have any beta testers here that could post their PC spec? I'm running the last beta on my 3 year old Alienware. Systems specs for that: P4 3.4 GHz 2MB RAM NVidia 6800 PCIe (256MB) I'm running on MEDIUM settings, with a few of the settings set to HIGH. I get fluid framerates as long as there aren't too many AI entities on the map..which is fine for me right now because I'm still learning how to fly this thing! I'm due for a PC upgrade and would like it to match a healthy framerate on this game I'll be upgrading before the full-on release of BS too. I want to enjoy it to its maximum potential..and my 3 year old system is getting a bit long in the tooth. And I don't think I'm disclosing too much information when I say that Black Shark is un-freakin' believable as far as flight dynamics and systems. You guys are gonna be amazed. BeachAV8R PS - If anyone wants to send me a quad-core CPU with a Radeon 3870 or something..I'll send you my mailing address. I can guarantee I'll put it to good use..
