Is 1946 a multithreaded application, and if so, - how many processors can it utilize - what kind of performance gains have been made (quantitative data)
I see this in the CONF.INI file, this leads me to believe it is multi-threaded and core compatible:
[rts] ;ProcessAffinityMask=1
Im curious as two what people are setting this to for dual and quadcores when flying IL2 46. Under MS Vista, its easy enough to select a process and set the affinity. Does setting the affinity have to be used in conjunction with the above ProcessAffinityMask variable? If so what values are optimum for IL2 for each core type? What line command or utilities make this easier to invoke?

It might have been patched for it... are you positive?

In order to set process affinity, you need to first remove the ";" from the beginning of the line in config.ini. If you have a quad core for example, you can then set it to anything from 0-3. It can be helpful to set Il2 to run on one core using this feature and then use Vista Task Manager to set all your other processes not to use the core that il2 is on.

Murph,
Im aware of affinity and how to set it in either WinXP or Vista, or with an application/utility.
So this INI affinity variable in IL2 is a replacement for manually setting the core on the IL2 EXE itself?
Seems abit redundant to me. If your going to be setting other proceses to other cores, youre already there to set IL2's EXE to another core.
I guess the test would be to set it to some value and see if thats what shows up in the task mgr.
