There are new recommended system specs for RoF See the news Now the recommended system should sport a quad core. This was unoffically stated by one of the developers (VikS?) but now it is official. Cheers

The RAM recommendations are a bit iffy, as they should note that VISTA alone will need about 700MB or more RAM to run. So if you're on XP, you can likely get along with 2GB.
For the graphicscard to state only the memory size is a bit weird. 3Gb has become very std for XP gaming machines (and is the limit of the 32bit XP O/S) IMHO, though it's also the std for DDR3 i7 machines as well (3Gb & 6Gb modules is the norm). Agree, 3Gb for Vista is not quite enough, more 4Gb or 6Gb (for the i7).
CPU - i7-3770K @3.50Ghz, RAM - 32Gb (800Mhz), Video Card - GTX980Ti TrackIR-4, Thrustmaster Warthog, MFG Crosswind Pedals, Satiek Quadrant, Saitek Switch Panel, Logitech G510 Keyboard, Win 7 Home Prem 64bit

Agree on the Vista ram requirements. Throw as much as you can at it. I started on 2 gig with my XP based C2D system 18 months ago. Installed Vista64 and nearly straight away bumped it up to 4 gig. Then this week pushed that up to 8 gig. I got the extra ram because the prices have dropped and ram is cheap now. I didn't think I'd notice any real difference....but I was wrong, IL2 loads a lot quicker. Looking for a quad to get me by until the end of the year and I can justify to the minister of entertainment that I need a new i7 system

I will need a new processor, more RAM and a new video card. Not sure when I might be able to do that and I'm wondering how well it will play, how smoothly and with what visuals with my probably typical system for many: Core 2 duo 2.4GHZ,2GB DDR2 RAM, GeForce 8800GTS 320MB Also, Access to the Internet: 256 Kb/s ..who would not meet this speed requirement internet connection speed requirement, (besides dial up)? click here My test shows 11.6MBS/down 1.9MBS upload with IE7 and 14.8MBS down/1.4MBS upload with Firefox

Not necessarily, this "recommended" spec is not a minimum spec it is an indication of what is required to run the game with all bells and whistles.
I would argue it is necessary. Who wants to run a game with many of the effects turned off? You want it to like like all the previews we have been watching. Hopefuly, we won't need a quad core to do that.

A demo would go along way towards putting a good deal of the community's fears to rest, IMHO.
I would hope that Rabu's specs would at least give you a decent experience with the sim (assorted turned off bells and/or whistles not withstanding). Personally I'm running a Q6600 @ stock (but very stable when overclocked @ 3.2 GHz) and a GTX 260 so my rig should run it just fine.

Hi all I feel pretty comfortable with my Duo at 4GHz. We'll see once the demo/game is out. If it proves I have to cut back on settings, I'll look into a Quad then. I think a high clock Duo will probably run it just fine

That those on lesser systems are not excluded.

I thought I'm never going to be able to afford an i7 system so I crammed in 8GB Corsair because DDR3 was way out of my price range, making the possibility of an i7 system stumble at the first hurdle. Another fine mess yes they are giving it away now aaggh and does anyone know if I can crowbar a quad core Intel CPU into my socket 775 EVGA 680i SLI mobo (early version, unmodified) btw. I think I can wangle a sanction for just a CPU upgrade. 3.33GHz overclocking potential if poss

Of course you can. Any 775 Quad will fit Got me eye on a Q9650 at OCUK at the moment. @around £275. Seen them go to 4 gig. Comfortable at 3.6 on air If I get it it'll be unsanctioned and smuggled in under the radar, you know the score Ming
