My once proud gaming rig has been overtaken by some mobile phones... (Pentium IV 2.8 GHz, GeForce 6800, 4 GB RAM).

I plan to buy a better setup, naturally, but not any time soon. First I have to take care of the house construction and the media setup there. Hence the question: would a ION/Atom 330 nettop (which I am going to buy for the living-room media anyway) be any good for gaming? In particular, how does it compare to my current setup?

I am quite aware that all the newest titles are no go. Still, as you might have guessed, I have quite a bit of catching up to do, so I thought that I might run some older titles on it... On the other hand, if the performace is going to be really poor (especially on 1920x1200) I would rather wait with the experience (and purchase) of those older titles till I get a a proper dedicated gaming machine.

That thing will be a slidshow. The Atom CPU is pretty lame compared to a desktop proc.

I have run a few games and it seems that the two setups are about the same... In some games one configuration is a bit better then the other (I suppose the balance between the CPU and GPU comes into play here), but on the average the results are very similar. It does not help me much, but maybe this info might be useful for someone else.
