There's a lot of documentation included. I am wondering how relevant, if at all, the original Falcon 4.0, the realism patch, and the SuperPak manuals would be.
I was thinking of first reading the BMS 2 manual and then the BMS-manual. Does much of the BMS 2 manual still apply?
Thanks.

I'm in kind of a similar situation. I have the AF manual printed out and was pretty comfortable with all the AF stuff a few years ago. Right now, I'm planning on just printing out the BMS 4 manual and hoping that that will cover anything that is vastly different from AF.
Otherwise, how far back should I go? I doubt there's any value in ready through the original 4.0 manual at this stage, but I'm not sure about all the other BMS and SP manuals.
I know the BMS team is probably fed up with these kinds of questions at this point, but any help would be appreciated.
I'm trying to RTFM, I really am... I just need to know which FM to read!

I think the BMS 2 manual is included...think the folder is Legacy Documentation or something like that

Yeah, the information seems to be there. Somewhere. But so far it has been a royal pain for me to put it together.

So I just printed out the BMS4 manual, Avionics checklist, Avionics section of BMS2, and the Navigation guide for Korea. Hopefully that will cover most of it.

Wonderful, something tells me I'm going to miss a few deadlines in the coming weeks. Thanks!

My issue with the checklists is that to those of us unfamiliar with the location of all those buttons, they are an exercise in frustration. For start-up, I’ve printed the checklist and gone through the ramp start mission and annotated the checklist sheet with "TOP RIGHT, NEXT TO THE RPM DIAL" and suchlike to aid me in finding my way around.
I can now cold start the plane and get up and about after a few hours scribbling. Well worth it IMO.
As for the manuals, yeah, it’s frustrating to newcomers like myself, but as this release is built on others, you can see why there’s no single authoritative document. More like a series of patch changelogs, (but the best, most detailed change logs I’ve ever seen, he said hastily ;))

I am using the 716 page F4AF manual, working through training missions in BMS4 but using the F4AF manual to assist. Anybody new to Falcon, being dropped into the BMS4 F16 'pit and expected to even get of the ground using the BMS manuals should be given a medal! Ideally you should have, AF or Open or Free or whatever Falcon 4.0 experience before undertaking BMS4. I have some SP experience with F4AF so I can do a ramp start, take-off and land but not much more. I initially elected to complete my F16 training with F4AF before migrating to BMS4. However I've now elected to bite the bullet and complete my training in BMS4. The principles in F4AF and BMS4 are the same (its the same plane). I'll just have to monitor the keyboard changes (eg SHFT ~ is now ~ ) and find the new runway coordinates when landing, however its still the same AoA and landing speed requirements so what the heck. Yes info. on the Weapon Deliver Planner, the Data Transfer Cartridge and setting the tower channel at each airbase, won't be in the F4AF manual. But it should be in the BMS manuals. Anyway ...... wish me luck ...... F4AF Manual available here: https://sites.google.com/site/falcon4history/files

Sounds like a plan. I've got the AF manual as well and am now soldiering through the BMS4 training missions. Done the IFR landing one after a few flakey attempts and am ready to start weapons training (gulp - on a Warthog HOTAS). The new KOTAR range looks awesome and the PDF's are very professional
